Jim Tucker: Pointing out valuable resources.

WHITIREIA Journalism School has launched a blog to couple with its news website, NewsWire, which is to feature interesting journalism and media-related articles, comments and updates for students.

Contributors will include current staff: Jim Tucker, Virginia McMillan, Queenie Rikihana and Luke Appleby, as well as featuring submissions from students.

All current (and past) students are encouraged to subscribe and participate in the form of interesting links, comments and class pictures!

This site will be maintained and moderated by Luke Appleby, Whitireia Journalism School’s web-journalism tutor, and will also serve as a base for the student specialist-topic blogs which all students are now required to produce.

So don’t be shy, suggest a link or send a picture my way, luke.applebyNOSPAM@newswire.co.nz (remove the NOSPAM part).

Whitireia Journalism students were today discussing protection of sources.
Re. the major US leak of the identity of a CIA operative and the pressure to name the leakers of the tip-off to the NY Times’ reporter Judith Miller (who did jail time to protect her sources), go to: http://www.scoop.co.nz/stories/HL0906/S00249.htm. The Supreme Court has just ruled on the matter. Thanks to Scoop for the coverage.
